More progress on "Kid Quarters"

My Handy Man Husband has been working hard lately!

I was going to wait and post about this project when it was completely finished, but I couldn't wait!

It's hard to tell what he is building here........

Now it's starting to look more like something. Shawn and his amazing Dad working on the first floor.......

With skills like he's aquired, my honey-do-list just keeps growing!

Fence Project Day ?

WOW!

Shawn was hard at work in June building our fence. I'm not exactly sure what day of the project this actually is, there were quite a few. He finished building it, stained it and put up the pergola he and his Dad built together!

I think he did an amazing job! It looks great and now won't fall over when the wind blows, like it did this last spring!

Now, onto "our" next project........hmmm.......

Fence Project Day 3

This 1st picture is actually Day 2: After the posts were set.

1,500 lbs of concrete, seven 10ft. 4x4 posts and two 12ft. posts.

Grandpa (Shawn's Dad) came down and worked with Shawn all Day! These two have done many projects together and just keep getting better and better! Shawn LOVES this time with his Dad!

My Dad was also here Day 2 of the project to set the posts.

They even had some time to attach some sections of fence boards!

We are so happy with it! What a great improvement!

Fence Project Day 1

This was Day 1 of the Fence Project:

We have waited since the day we moved in to start this project! This HAD to be the time since the wind nearly blew the whole thing over one day and Shawn had to attach additional supports....classy and since Rylee kept getting out between the boards and going to the neighbors.

I don't think you can tell in these pictures, but the bottom of the fence along the entire back was buried. It was all pretty much rotted out...not good! We will NOT miss this fence!

Mother's Day Weekend

I got the best gift of all from little guy for Mother's Day....A Bird House colored by him and a cupcake surprise in the box! He was so excited to give them to me! (I think he secretly just wanted to "share" the cupcake he made for me).

Most of all, I just LOVE being called Mommy!

We celebrated the whole weekend and had my Mommy and extended Family over Friday night for a BBQ and headed up to Kirkland to Shawn's Parents with extended Family Saturday for a BBQ. This then opened up Sunday (actual Mother's Day) to do whatever I pleased!

I chose for Shawn to start working on oars that were my Grandfather's (Poppie) that we will eventually hang in our Familyroom. I have the best husband in the world that is willing to take on all of my projects and ideas. Thanks for a great Mom's Day Shawner...I Love You!

I will post more on this project that I am so excited about!

Garage Cabinets Phase III

I wish I would have thought to start this post on the first phase of this project. Better late than never. Well anyways, this is Shawn with his Dad, Tom, aka Papa. Papa is the mastermind behind this garage cabinet building/installation. According to Shawn, he is the quality control/inspector of the project. I heard him say at one point, "measure twice, cut once." (shop talk)

I call this phase three because this was Tom's third day down here working on the cabinets. This was not his third day in a row, but three different weekends. Now that's dedication to a project! Shawn absolutely loves working with his Dad and considers this great quality time with him. I'm assuming Shawn's learning amazing wood working skills and will pass them onto Jackson as his Dad is doing with him.

Notice the cabinets are built around a refridgerator (like in a kitchen, but this is our garage.) To the left is a bench that lifts for storage and a place to sit to take dirty shoes off (again this is the garage.) And who couldn't notice the framed art, I mean beer sign hanging (which if has to be hung anywhere at all is best in a garage.)

Shawn IS doing an amazing job with all of the projects around here...I need to keep him going on some of the paint projects before Spring and Summer begin. If you know him at all you can guess what he will be doing.

The reason I started the post now however in phase three of the project is that I believe there to be more phases. I never really quite know the plans, but when looking out in the garage there is another entire wall of my "stuff." That's wording it nicely. (please scroll down to see the evidence, you'll know when you see it).

I now have much nicer cabinets in the garage than in my kitchen...I've already asked if they can redo those, but I'm sure you can guess the answer I got. (It's apparently not a part of one of the phases)

The cabinets are absolutely amazing and it sure helps make this home seem more and more like ours. We're slowly McGowanizing it! (That's a compliment)
